Learn RFID in Hours, Right from Your PC

RFID Essentials is an interactive, Web-based learning resource designed to address the needs of end-user organizations in the exploration or early adoption phase. In about eight hours, project team members can acquire working knowledge of RFID technology, and how to apply and evaluate it. Organizations can achieve more successful implementations by getting the project team up to speed on RFID fundamentals early in the planning phase.

This course is ideal for information technology, finance, operations, engineering, and sales professionals and managers who want to familiarize themselves with RFID technology without spending days or weeks reading or sitting in a classroom.

RFID Essentials prepares users to:

  • Identify and rank potential applications in their enterprise
  • Choose the right RFID architecture for an application
  • Understand how their company can share data with trading partners using EPCIS standards
  • Talk knowledgeably with vendors
  • Measure an application's financial contribution
  • Plan a pilot

There are no prerequisites. RFID Essentials has been tested extensively to ensure that it is accessible to individuals with no prior RFID experience. At the same time, individuals with some prior experience can also benefit. Numerous, optional “In-depth” sections enable them to build their knowledge.

RFID Essentials has been well received by leading companies like IBM, Michelin, and Dow Chemical. Click here for testimonials by some of these companies.

How People Learn

Studies show that people learn best through hands-on involvement with and repeated exposure to the material. RFID Essentials offers both. It is a highly interactive and sensory rich experience. Since it is available over the Internet, the course is self paced. Enterprise users can go back and review as often as they wish throughout a one-year period.

For foundation subjects high-quality e-learning has been proven more effective than classroom training, because it provides for more active participation by the learner. In the average classroom setting, a student asks one question every ten hours. Studies show that users of high-quality e-learning interact with the program via questions and answers up to 120 times per hour.

As shown in the Learning Pyramid below, the average amount retained one month after a classroom lecture has been estimated at 5 percent. In contrast, active learning experiences like RFID Essentials, in which learners to “practice by doing”, lead to much higher retention. Repeated exposure to material further increases this retention.
