Emerson Process Management’s DeltaV digital automation system has been selected by Perstorp, a speciality chemicals group, for the control system upgrade at its pentaerythritol processing plant in Perstorp, Sweden. The existing distributed control system will be replaced as part of a plant lifecycle management program to ensure continued high product quality and operational effi-ciency for decades to come.

At a facility for dehydrating large volumes of raw natural gas from wells, engineers designed a Safety Instrumented System (SIS) of SIL-2 to help protect low-pressure pipe and process equipment against overpressures. Components of the SIS include a PLC logic solver, ABB 2600T pressure transmitters, and pneumatically actuated ball valves.

The jumbo roll collator from Jakob Graphic Services GmbH can automatically collate, glue, label, fold and cut forms, mailers with cut inserts, brochures with or without a finish, calendars and similar printed matter. These machines deliver precise operation during highly-dynamic processes while quickly adapting to new tasks with an extremely simple and fast changeover system. In fact, servo cutter format adjustments, and even extensive changes, can be carried out in just seconds. At the heart of this machine is Kollmorgen Automation Suite (KAS). In addition to powerful Kollmorgen servo technology, the KAS software package plays a vital role in speeding development and commissioning with simplified programming interface and real-time system simulation.
